    CARTRIDGE 1: Sediment Pre-Filter and Compressed Carbon Block

    Stage 1: A 5 micron sediment filter removes sediment and tiny microscopic particles that can cause cloudiness and unpleasant taste and odor in water.

    Stage 2: A 5 micron Bituminous Activated Carbon Block filters out chlorine, the most concentrated and the most competitive chemical in our water. This allows the following stages in cartridge #2 to focus on the more difficult contaminants like lead and volatile organic chemicals (VOCs).

     

     

    CARTRIDGE 2: Sub-Micron Compressed Carbon Block

    Stage 3: Lead is filtered out by a complex ion exchange process where lead ions are replaced with potassium ions. This process is highly effective for lead and heavy metal reduction and also enhances the natural mineral balance of water. Potassium is one of the minerals that give water a natural spring water taste and a neutral pH.

    Stage 4: A 0.5 sub-micron Coconut Shell Activated Carbon Block filters a wide spectrum of volatile organic chemicals (VOCs), like herbicides, pesticides and industrial solvents, such as MBTE (gasoline by-product). This final stage is also highly effective for the removal of chlorine resistant microscopic organisms like cryptosporidium and giardia, two common water borne parasites that can cause flu like symptoms for most, but can also be fatal to small children and the elderly.
